ETA: Harper Collins has made the first and second books – ‘The Vampire Diaries: The Awakening‘ and ‘The Vampire Diaries: The Struggle‘ – available again for full online reading… hurry, don’t know when this offer ends…

ETA 2: You can also read the first book – “The Vampire Diaries: The Awakening” – on scribd for a limited amount of time. Click on PAGE 2 if you wish to read it here since I’ve embedded it. Click on PAGE 3 to read an excerpt from “The Struggle”. Click on PAGE 4 to read an excerpt from “The Fury”. Once their promotion ends, note that these links will expire.

If you’re not yet a fan of L.J. Smith, here’s a chance for you to sample her writing for free. Her book series have been picked up for television (like Gossip Girl) so I expect her series to get even more popular (unless people have finally had Vampire overkill …)

Click on the widget above or here to be able to read her novel, The Vampire Diaries: The Awakening and The Struggle, in its entirety online but only until April 14th.

It’s not really a free e-book in the sense that you can download and read later at your leisure, but hey, beggars can’t be choosers, right?

The site uses “Browse Inside” technoloy and looks like pages of pdf actually. Very easy to use and the pages are set at 100% with clear font, so it’s no biggie 🙂

Adam Lambert Goes (Slightly) Unplugged

March 26, 2009 Leave a comment

Well, he didn’t go entirely unplugged. But he did leave the OTT at home tonight.

Adam sings “Tracks of My Tears” by Smokey Robinson on American Idol’s Motown Night.

But when did Adam get castrated? I kid – I loved it – I don’t mind when guys (who can) go all falsetto on me. Adam’s no Freddie Mercury, but he has a pretty falsetto of his own.

Great night to show he’s capable of not shrieking every song on his catalogue – I thought the singing was not perfect – he sounded weak/shaky to me in some parts – but on a horrible night like this with trainwrecks a-plenty (Megan, megan, megan …), Adam is on another league entirely.

Vote for ADAM!!!

Listen to the “Twilight Soundtrack” by Various Artists

March 26, 2009 Leave a comment

I didn’t really care to the watch the movie again or re-read the book(s), but I get the appeal of Edward Cullen to 15-year-old teens up to 40-year-old housewives. I read the series too and I admit I also watched the movie just to see how Robert Pattison fared as Edward. Surprisingly, I liked Kristen Steward (yes, Bella is that pouty and whiny so she was spot-on). So, it’s no surprise that the movie was a big hit and the soundtrack is following in its tracks (pun intended).

The soundtrack is COOL however, and it’s something I think one can enjoy – Twilight fan or not. Check – angry, gritty, angsty, hard.
