Preview Clip of Carrie Underwood’s New Song – Mama’s Song

October 11, 2009 1 comment

Billboard.Com just gave an exclusive preview of Carrie Underwood’s new song from her album “Play On”. As far as I can tell from the short clip, ‘Mama’s Song’ is a simple and pensive little ballad. And that’s all that I can tell … it’s not particularly memorable, but this is just a snippet and it’s really hard to judge from just a few seconds of a song.

The song was co-written by Carrie and Kara DioGuardi, Martin Frederiksen and Luke Laird. Hmmm…. Kara’s name is attached, no wonder I don’t like it. Jk!

You can head on to Billboard.Com to listen (I’ve also embedded a copy here & here’s a DL link if you want the snippet on your iPod):

Preview – 45 Seconds of Michael Jackson’s ‘This Is It’

October 11, 2009 3 comments

** The entire song ‘This Is It’ is now streaming here **

A 45-second preview of Michael Jackson’s posthumous single got leaked to YouTube. Listen to the clip!

“This is it
Here I stand
In the light of the world
Love is grand
And this love
I can feel
And I know
Yes, for sure
It is real”

What do you think? Me? I refuse to critique Michael Jackson – I’ll just buy whatever’s on offer… Kinda like with Freddie Mercury – you just take whatever crumbs they find for release…

UNRELEASED MICHAEL JACKSON SONG “THIS IS IT” TO BE UNVEILED at MIDNIGHT ON OCTOBER 12TH ON MICHAELJACKSON.COM

At the stroke of 12 a.m. (midnight) EST on October 12th, a never-before released song from Michael Jackson – a single entitled “This Is It” – will be unveiled to the world on www.MichaelJackson.com. “This Is It,” a brand new song, marks yet another exciting moment in music history for one of the world’s most revered artists; featuring backing vocals by Michael’s brothers The Jacksons, the song plays during the closing sequence of Sony Pictures’ forthcoming film MICHAEL JACKSON’S THIS IS IT and is on the 2-disc CD set Michael Jackson’s This Is It, which is the stand-alone companion to the motion picture. The single artwork – a new photo of Michael taken recently at his Staples Center rehearsals – will also be disclosed.

Later this month, Sony Music Entertainment’s Columbia/Epic Label Group will release the two-disc album Michael Jackson’s This Is It internationally on October 26th and North America on October 27th to coincide with the worldwide release of the motion picture, which arrives in theaters on October 28th and runs for a limited two-week engagement.

Preview Norah Jones’ New Single – Chasing Pirates

October 11, 2009 3 comments

‘Chasing Pirates’ is the lead single off Norah Jones’ new album “The Fall” (out in stores Nov. 17). Have a listen!

I’ve read that Norah Jones’ new album is supposed to be a departure from her previous sound, but this first single stays in her wheelhouse.

I think ‘Chasing Pirates’ sounds exactly like a Norah Jones song – sweet melody accompanied by Norah’s sleepy and jazzy vocals. It’s just more ‘poppified’ than her old songs. Which isn’t a bad thing, really. I like that it kinda stealthily grows on you and before you know it, you realize that you actually like it! As I did!

You can download a copy of ‘Chasing Pirates’ off Amazon
or iTunes for just $0.99!
