Now Streaming, New Michael Jackson Song “This Is It” – Exclusively Available On Forthcoming Album

The album, Michael Jackson’s This Is It, is a companion piece to the Michael Jackson’s This Is It Movie and features the music that inspired the film, demo recordings and two versions of the previously unreleased song, “This Is It”.

CD Available Worldwide October 26 & 27. Vinyl available November 10th.

ETA : I think the world trying to listen in has frozen the stream … anyway, here’s an embedded MP3 clip for those of you for whom the video won’t play… (and a DL link for a web rip MP3 for those who want “This Is It” on rotation on their iPods now, but be sure to buy the real thing on Oct 26!)

ETA 2 : Read this interesting article on the NY Times – New Michael Jackson Music Gets Midnight Release By BEN SISARIO

Based on a tape Mr. Jackson left behind containing only his piano and vocals, a full arrangement was built, complete with swelling strings and his brothers’ backup vocals. The song is to run during the closing credits of the new Jackson film, perhaps not coincidentally called “This Is It.”

If “This Is It” is any guide, the provenance of leftover Jackson songs might be difficult to establish. It is not clear when the song was written or recorded, Mr. Stringer said, and Sony originally believed that the tape was made around the time of Mr. Jackson’s 1991 album “Dangerous.” But it could have been much earlier, perhaps even as early as the album “Off the Wall,” from 1979.

“We just found the song,” Mr. Stringer said. “It was titled ‘This Is It.’ It was in a box, and we listened to it.”

Another Track (Pat-A-Pan) from David Archuleta’s Christmas From the Heart Album Leaks!

October 12, 2009 6 comments

** The full CD is currently streaming on AOL MUSIC. And if AOL blocks you, the whole album has leaked on this YouTube channel. Have a listen, and I hope you end up deciding to buy a copy of “Christmas From The Heart”! I haven’t had time to listen to all the tracks yet, but I’m pretty much buying the whole album anyway! Cheers! **

I posted recently about some songs leaking from David Archuleta’s “Christmas From The Heart” album. From the three songs I listened to, I was really enthusiastic about just one – Ave Maria (which pretty much sealed the deal for me in terms of getting the album – unless – can I just get individual tracks from the album? – I just remembered my “Only Singles” rule). The album is out October 13 – woohoo!

Well, another song just leaked – ‘Pat-A-Pan‘ – and it’s PRECIOUS. Love this one even though I don’t understand the French (?) parts. This song should be used in one of those cutesy Christmas cartoons.

ETA : Here’s a stream of “What Child Is This” from YouTube (very good interpretation by David, kinda reminds me of that sublime ‘How Great Thou Art‘ that was also on YouTube).

ETA 2 : More leaks! David’s voice is just perfect for the traditional Christmas songs. ‘The First Noel’ is a little gem of a song.

And President Obama opens for Lady Gaga!

So, this is Lady Gaga without any gimmicks. I like her like this! And yeah, John Lennon was a genius… So, who else out there is marching with Lady Gaga and everyone else for the Equity March?
