Just a heads up, Kris Allen’s debut self-named album is now streaming live on AOL Music! I’m headed that way myself, and I’ll report back to flail once I’ve listened to my heart’s content…

Update : Here’s my snap review of Kris Allen’s album from a quickie listen. Basically thank goodness Kris was allowed to co-write almost the entire album – because guess what – the best songs were all his co-writes! I think that this is the first time an AI alum’s debut album isn’t some generic overprocessed bland collection of made-to-order songs. it’s a good mix – there’s catchy guitar and piano-driven pop-rock, haunting ballads, soul, funk … and the lyrics are simply exquisite, just pregnant with meaning & just substance. Sung really passionately too. I can’t even pick my faves since I pretty much liked almost every song (minus the ones Kris didn’t co-write); this is one album where I won’t be skipping songs (well, except for Heartless – WTF was that arrangement?)
I know that I’m an invested AI fan, but I gotta say that I’m feeling really proud and warm over this album. Not that I’ll care what the critics will say – but I think this album will be a critic’s darling. Seriously.

I love Bring it Back and The Truth. These are the songs that remind me of his performances on American Idol. There some other pretty good songs too, though I’m quite disappointed that his collaboration with Daughtry and Matt Kearny are not included. I wonder if the album will be released on the same date in Malaysia?
The only songs I didn’t like were … Heartless … just don’t like the song … and Live Like We’re Dying … but the rest of the songs are very good. Good Job Kris.
