Allison Iraheta was a guest this morning at z100’s Elvis Duran Morning Show!

There was a short interview where Allison waxed poetic about her love for Adam and her red hair and her fabulous friends. Well, not really poetic, since we all know how (adorably) awkward she is on interviews… I wish they hadn’t spent so much time talking about American idol though.

‘Friday I’ll Be Over You’ was played on air (as was a snippet of ‘Robot Love’), there was a (sane) fan call-in segment, AND Allison sang a pretty ‘effin fantastic acoustic ‘Don’t Waste the Pretty’ (this is her second single, perhaps?). Pretty packed segment! The djs loved her – hope this means they start spinning Allison’s single (or Jive ponies up)!

If you missed her interview, z100 has a podcast up on their website. They’ll be updating that with photos, so check back on z100.

Update! This wasn’t included in z100’s podcast, but Allison was warming up in the bathroom prior to her interview, and the Elvis Duran crew decided to surprise her…

FREE iTunes Download – ‘Candy Cane Christmas’ by Darius Rucker

December 2, 2009 Leave a comment

The iTunes single of the week is ‘Candy Cane Christmas’ by Darius Rucker. Click here to download!

I really like this one, it’s very jazzy and complimented by Darius Rucker’s smooth warm vocals. Be sure to grab this track before the week is out!

Song Description:

Each week we find a track from an artist or a band we’ve been enjoying and bring it to you, for free, as our Single of the Week.

In his career, Darius Rucker has donned a few hats: fitted baseball hat for Hootie & the Blowfish, wide-brimmed Stetson for his country debut. Now Rucker adds ‘crimson stocking cap’ to his hat rack on the romantic slow dance ‘Candy Cane Christmas.’ Rucker’s naturally warm vocal describes a winter wonderland over a traditional jazz and country backdrop, creating a new holiday-music essential.

Thanks to the fans who managed to get videos! Check back, I’ll update as more videos come up. The sound isn’t very good, but wow, Kris looked extra hot that night, didn’t he?

FREE iTunes Download – ‘I’ll Be Home for Christmas’ by Katharine McPhee

December 2, 2009 Leave a comment

Song Description:

The iTunes Discovery Download puts the focus on a different genre each week, offering up a free track we think is worth your attention.

One of the joys of being an American Idol fan is following successful contestants’ paths after they finish competing on the show. Katharine McPhee, who has since toured with Andrea Bocelli and recorded with trumpeter Chris Botti, has embraced both standards and modern R&B and pop in her post-AI career. For her take on this Christmas classic, she starts with the seldom-sung first verse and a solo piano accompaniment before the sounds of church bells and drum machines join in. It’s a most contemporary take on a holiday chestnut.

psst… didn’t really like this ‘contemporary’ take, but hey, it’s free…
