December 31, 2009 7 comments

Okay, so Kris Allen and his band had a pre-New Year’s Eve gig at the B.B. King’s Blues Club at The Mirage, Las Vegas. His set list included Heartless/Gangsta’s Paradise mashup, Can’t Stay Away, Alright With Me, Is It Over, Man In The Mirror, Red Guitar, Hit Me Baby One More Time, Live Like We’re Dying, and a solo encore of Ain’t No Sunshine.

Thanks to the fans (scoobyld) who attended who took time out to upload videos to share with the rest of us. Yes, we have video!

Bookmark this post or check back since I’ll update as videos are uploaded! Happy New Year everyone!!!

ETA : OK Magazine has photos up of Kris from the BB King gig. Looks like Kris is going for a bearded look … he kinda carries it off even though my usual reaction to beards is ewww.

Album Review – P!nk’s Funhouse Tour: Live in Australia (CD/DVD)

December 31, 2009 2 comments

Track Listing for Audio CD:

1. Highway To Hell
2. Bad Influence
3. It’s All Your Fault
4. Ave Mary A
5. Please Don’t Leave Me
6. U + UR Hand
7. I Don’t Believe You
8. Crystal Ball
9. One Foot Wrong
10. Babe I’m Gonna Leave You
11. Bohemian Rhapsody
12. Funhouse
13. Push You Away (Bonus Studio Track)

I was so stoked to get P!nk’s Funhouse Tour: Live in Australia (CD/DVD) this Christmas! Thank you cousin with good taste!!!

It’s a really great addition to my little collection of live albums. Needless to say, P!nk is a great LIVE performer and this CD/DVD combo does not disappoint. I stupidly did not get this earlier for myself since I thought that it was just an audio CD, but turns out that it actually included a bonus DVD!!! Jeez – whoever is marketing this really dropped the ball. Just to let you know, the bonus DVD has all the songs (count ’em! 23 in all) from the live concert, two extras, exclusive behind the scenes bloopers and other fun videos… I have no idea why that aspect wasn’t played up at all or maybe I just missed it.

Anyway, the collection of songs chosen from the concert is pretty cool – it runs the gamut from pop/rock to P!nk’s heartwrenching ballads – with remixed old favorites, songs from the latest CD (Funhouse), and covers like Queen’s Bohemian Rhapsody. Love love love P!nk’s live version of Bohemian Rhapsody – very few people not named Freddie Mercury can pull that one off without being a caricature, but P!nk has enough gravitas to do just that. The vocals are flawless and the CD/DVD captures the great energy coming not only from the performer but also from the audience.

If you’ve ever seen P!nk live, then you know that it isn’t just a concert. It’s a total aural and visual SHOW – with the full-on shebang – and can be described as a fusion of a rock-n-roll concert with Cirque De Soleil elements. ‘Funhouse’ is such an apt name. The costumes alone are jaw-dropping. Furthermore, let’s all enjoy having video of P!nk singing suspended on a trapeze preserved for posterity, especially since she recently announced that this is the last tour she’ll be doing acrobatic stunts from a trapeze for health reasons. Understandably, inspite of all the physical conditioning and yoga in the world, those gymtastic stunts don’t do her back any favors.

Seriously, I almost cried when I realized what I almost missed when I didn’t get this for my own (Thank you cousin!!!). If you call yourself a P!nk fan, don’t let this get away from you. The bonus DVD is totally worth every penny.

For the life of me, I cannot understand why P!nk is only nominated for two Grammy Awards – seriously – she gets no respect!

P!nk’s Funhouse Tour: Live in Australia is available on Amazon as a CD/Bonus DVD ($13.99), Blu Ray ($17.99) or DVD ($23.49). It’s also available on iTunes for $18.99.

Adam Lambert, Kris Allen and Allison Iraheta Talk to Billboard – 2009 Chart Stars Talk 2010 Plans

December 31, 2009 Leave a comment

Anyone else going into withdrawal lately? LOL – Well, Billboard has a couple of interviews up with Adam Lambert, Kris Allen and Allison Iraheta talking about the highlights of their year and what they’re looking forward to in 2010!

Whatever peeps might think about American Idol or how good/bad these three’s albums are doing right now – one thing stands out – Adam Lambert, Kris Allen and Allison Iraheta are having the time of their lives and living their dreams. Their lives have taken a 360, but they are doing what they love to do – and I am so happy for them! I’m just a fan, so all I can do is support them in my small way, and hope that the rest of the music-loving (and buying!) public discover these three young talents soon.

Adam is welcoming 2010 with a headlining concert at the Gridlock LA 2010 (Paramount Lot, Hollywood). It won’t be aired on tv, but the Adam fans are on it! So, peeps who can’t be one of the lucky 5,000 ticket holders can at least enjoy a cell cast (whoa, memories of summer!) via the AdamCast Ustream or CoralMermaid Ustream or AdamLand qik stream.

ETA : Neil Lambert (Adam’s bro) just sent a message on Twitter that he’ll also be broadcasting Adam’s show (via qik video livestream). Here’s his twitter name (@negativeneil) so you can follow him for updates! Note that the qik site saves streamed videos, so those who can’t stay up can watch/listen to the stream at a later time. (* And speaking of the very cool Lambert family, here’s a short interview with Leila – Adam’s mom – for Women’s Day).

Kris (headliner) and Allison will be ringing in the New Year’s in Las Vegas for Billboard’s New Year’s Eve Live! on Fox. So check that out on your teevees! Kris was also booked to do a show at B.B. King’s Blues Club. Hope some fans get video of that one! Here’s a short interview that Kris did about his NYE shows.

P.S. Kradam fans will be very happy that Adam + Kris are MTV Asia’s artists of the month. A fan managed to capture the promo on tv.
