If you missed the show, Rickey.Org has high quality videos up on his site. My top three for tonight (in no particular order) : Crystal Bowersox, Siobhan Magnus and Didi Benami!
Crystal Bowersox is really, really good – she was the best tonight for me with her rendition of ‘Hand in My Pocket’ by Alanis Morissette. Very raw, very real, very strong vocals. And she was just being herself too! I’d like to be at whatever subway station Simon Cowell claims to hear similar quality singers like her! I mean, when was the last time Simon even set foot inside a subway station?

Siobhan Magnus gets cool points from me simply for being a glass blower apprentice. I mean, how out of left field is that? I liked her version of ‘Wicked Game’ by Chris Isaac – she didn’t really change it up, but I thought that was a wise choice. I’m really looking forward to more from this girl – she seemed so catty in the Hollywood rounds and I didn’t really like her – but I’m turning around on her.

But out of everyone, I think that Didi Benami will be the one selling the iTunes downloads this year. Yes, she was very low key with her song, but what can you do, it’s a low key song? And in terms of the girl with a quirky singer-songwriter vibe, she slayed Lilly Scott and Lacey Brown tonight. Didi had sold nearly 20,000 downloads of Katharine McPhee’s ‘Terrified’ after she sang it Hollywood Week, and if I were a betting person, I’d bet that Didi just sold a couple of downloads of ‘The Way I Am‘ by Ingrid Michaelson tonight too. Didi has that quality that ‘sells’ the song for me, and makes me want to check out other songs by the original artist, unlike everyone else out of the 12 women who sang tonight.
P.S. I’m glad she picked up on maybe trying to hold back the water-works!

Top Sites Tuesday – Two Thoughts on Tuesday
Hmmm… It’s Top Sites Tuesday time again! So, what’s on my mind this tuesday… hmmm… amazing how the mind empties pretty fast when you’re forcing it to be creative!
Thought #1: What is your favorite sleeping position?
I found this little illustration on the SkyTrax website and found it so funny that there’s an actual study that analyzed people’s sleeping positions vis-à-vis their personalities!
I’m a Foetus sleeper, and this is how my personality is described (read all the descriptions HERE):
Those who curl up in the foetus position are described as tough on the outside but sensitive at heart. They may be shy when they first meet somebody, but soon relax. This is the most common sleeping position, adopted by 41% of the 1,000 people who took part in the survey. More than twice as many women as men tend to adopt this position.
I don’t know, the way all the personalities are described is so generalized, it would be partially right for most everyone right? It reads to me like a horoscope, where everyone has little bulls-eyes that are going to be hit no matter what. Anyway, I was just curious how the rest of you Top Sites Tuesday participants stack up 🙂
Thought #2: Apparently, all I have to do to lose those stubborn extra pounds I packed on is to move to a higher altitude! AND the holy grail – no exercise needed!
Found this article ‘Altitude Causes Weight Loss Without Exercise‘ on the net, and to summarize it, a study in the Obesity Magazine was published which showed that overweight and sedentary participants lost significant weight (and kept 2/3 of the weight off) after spending a week at 8,700 feet elevation.
The appetite-suppressing effect supposedly occurs since the participants’ bodies’ levels of the hormone Leptin (aka satiety hormone) increased while in higher altitude. The inner lazy in me (who still wants to lose weight) is just wondering…. Now, I can’t quite afford to take one week vacations at 8,700 elevations – but maybe I can manage to just buy over-the-counter Leptin if it exists? 😉
