FREE AudioBook Download – ‘The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo’ by Stieg Larsson

September 6, 2010 Leave a comment

The Guardian & Observer (UK) with Audible UK have teamed up to give away a free audiobook! And apparently, more is on the way! Lucky UK people!

The first freebie is ‘The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo‘ by Stieg Larsson, first book from the bestselling Millennium Trilogy. Just click here to sign up – you’ll have to give your contact info etc. You’ll then get a link that you can use to download the audiobook from Audible.UK (you also have to sign up there).

*I don’t know if this is georestricted to just the UK as I didn’t try to download it – but I suspect that non-UK people will be locked out of this. (Not to worry though, why not try out Audible.Com where you get two free audiobooks when you sign up?)

This is a pretty good promo (good until 12 September!), ordinarily The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo would have cost you $26.25 to download!

Book Description:

A spellbinding amalgam of murder mystery, family saga, love story, and financial intrigue….

It’s about the disappearance 40 years ago of Harriet Vanger, a young scion of one of the wealthiest families in Sweden… and about her octogenarian uncle, determined to know the truth about what he believes was her murder.

It’s about Mikael Blomkvist, a crusading journalist recently at the wrong end of a libel case, hired to get to the bottom of Harriet’s disappearance… and about Lisbeth Salander, a 24-year-old, pierced and tattooed genius hacker possessed of the hard-earned wisdom of someone twice her age, who assists Blomkvist with the investigation.

This unlikely team discovers a vein of nearly unfathomable iniquity running through the Vanger family, astonishing corruption in the highest echelons of Swedish industrialism – and an unexpected connection between themselves.

Enjoy all the freebies!

Book Description:

A Story of Discworld

A nightmarish danger threatens from the other side of reality . . .

Armed with only a frying pan and her common sense, young witch-to-be Tiffany Aching must defend her home against the monsters of Fairyland. Luckily she has some very unusual help: the local Nac Mac Feegle —aka the Wee Free Men— a clan of fierce, sheep-stealing, sword-wielding, six-inch-high blue men.

Together they must face headless horsemen, ferocious grimhounds, terrifying dreams come true, and ultimately the sinister Queen of the Elves herself. . . .

Click on the widget above or here to be able to read the YA novel, ‘The Wee Free Men (Children’s Edition) By Terry Pratchett, in its entirety online (hurry, since it’s not indicated when this offer expires). *I’m pretty sure that they’re doing this as a promo for Terry Pratchett’s latest Discworld book ‘I Shall Wear Midnight‘ (a Tiffany Aching book) which will be released September 28.

It’s not really a free e-book in the sense that you can download and read later at your leisure, but hey, beggars can’t be choosers, right?

The site uses “Browse Inside” technology and looks like pages of pdf actually. Very easy to use and the pages are set at 100% with clear font, so it’s no biggie 🙂 And if you like it, buy a copy (just $6.99)!

For Debbie Macomber’s Fans! Sale Alert for her ‘Cedar Cove Series’ etc

September 6, 2010 Leave a comment

Any Debbie Macomber fans who drop by my blog? She’s a New York Times best-selling author of women’s fiction. One of her books “Mrs. Miracle” was even turnd into a Hallmark Channel original movie. Well, she’s got a bunch of Kindle eBooks that are pretty bargain-priced right now. Don’t know how long the prices will stay down though…
