Weekly Meme: Top Ten Tuesday – Ten Bookish Websites, Organizations, Apps. Etc.

The weekly Top Ten Tuesday topic of the week (via the Broke and Bookish blog) is:

Ten Bookish Websites, Organizations, Apps. Etc.

It’s my first time to join this meme, and I’m definitely checking out other people’s lists. I just know this one is going to be a goldmine! 🙂 Okay, other than blogs, here are some book related websites I always check out!

  1. AMAZON (Free for Kindle Bestseller List) – because I make it my business to find out what’s free for my Kindle! 🙂
  2. Audiobook Community – They hold a SyncSummer every year and offer two free YA audiobooks weekly (until August 17th!)
  3. BoingBoing (Reviews) – This is a well known aggregator website, but my favorite is when they feature reviews. Majority of the book reviews are written by Cory Doctorow (the SciFi/fantasy author) and I get a lot of ‘must reads’ from his recommendations.
  4. Baen Free Library – Yup, all free SciFi books from Baen! Great way to find another new fave author.
  5. MobileRead.Com’s Patricia Clark Memorial Library – Lovingly edited public domain books by book lovers from the MobileRead forum, shared freely to anyone interested in major book formats
  6. HarperCollins (BrowseInside) – They have a bookshelf where you can have full access to certain really popular books (i.e. Vampire Diaries, Pretty Little Liars, etc), the only catch is you have to read it online
  7. Hachette Book Group (Open Access) – This is similar to HarperCollins’ BrowseInside, you get full access to certain books but you can only read them online
  8. Fantastic Fiction – Super helpful when you’re reading a series that’s already on it’s nth book. Quick book info with painless searching.
  9. Inkmesh – Easy place to look for free eBooks for the Nook, the Sony, etc  (like I said, I make it my business to find out any freebies!)
  10. Dropbox – Okay, this online ‘cloud locker’ is not necessarily bookish, except that the way I use it is definitely bookish. I only upload books to the account and I can read the books anytime on my iPod Touch! If you don’t have one yet, sign up for a FREE account!

(p.s.s. If it’s your first time to visit my blog, please have a look around especially if you read digital books. I post a lot of (legal) freebies and Kindle bargain books that I find here)

Great post! I haven’t heard of most of these but they sound great and very useful. I’ll definitely have a look around your blog too because I just got a Kindle and am always on the lookout for free or cheap books!! 🙂

Thanks for the tip about BoingBoing. I’m a Cory Doctorow fan so I’m glad to have found it.

I’ve never heard of Fantastic Fiction, but it made an appearance on many people’s lists. It’s always nice to be able to see a list of all the books in a given series, without having to scour the Internet.

Sadly, although it’s a cool resource, I don’t think it’s one I’ll be visiting often. I work for a website design company, and everything about the layout and colors of that website makes me cringe. That’s probably me being overly-picky, but I just can’t help myself.

Thanks for stopping by my blog. I hope you keep participating in Top 10 Tuesday with us!

You have some great websites listed here. Inkmesh and Dropbox sound intriguing. And I love the SyncSummer and Amazon deals too of course. Fantastic Fiction is a really helpful site. I forgot the name of that one when I was making my list.

Thanks for sharing! I can’t wait to go explore all the new sites I’ve learned about this week.
