Weekly Meme: WWW Wednesdays (July 20)

Haven’t done WWW Wednesdays since June 1, so I thought I’d play along again today with this weekly meme WWW Wednesdays (via the Should Be Reading blog) where I answer three (3) questions:

What are you currently reading?

I’m currently reading A Dance with Dragons: A Song of Ice and Fire: Book Five by George R.R. Martin … as slowly as I can. I read just a couple of chapters a day, so I read another book after I’m done with my ration for the day 🙂 For people unfamiliar with the series, you may have heard of the HBO fantasy series A Game of Thrones? Well, it’s based on the first book from this series which made me a life-long fan of George R. R. Martin.

Why am I doing this? I thought that A Dance with Dragons would never get released what with George R.R. Martin taking forever in releasing the books from his series (Book 4, A Feast for Crows, came out in 2005!), so I have no idea when Book 6 will come out. I’m just trying to enjoy Book 5 for as long as I can!

What did you recently finish reading?

I just finished reading The Fifth Woman (A Kurt Wallander Mystery) by Henning Mankell (Author), Steven T. Murray (Translator).

This is the sixth book in Swedish crime author Henning Mankell’s celebrated series starring inspector Kurt Wallander. I’ve been working my way through the books, and by this time, Kurt Wallander is almost like family to me. The series has been adapted for TV in the UK (BBC One) with Kenneth Branagh in the lead role. I hope that a DVD gets released since I really want to see Branagh’s interpretation of inspector Wallander.

What do you think you’ll read next?

I’m planning to read Android Karenina by Leo Tolstoy, Ben H. Winters next. This is a Classic/SciFi mash-up of Leo Tolstoy’s Anna Karenina with steampunk elements, and I really wanted to read it, so I was so happy to see it at a huuuge discount right now at Amazon (just $0.99!) as part of Amazon’s Big Deals on Over 900 Kindle Books SALE! (If you like bargains, be sure to browse through The Big Deal SALE since books are discounted from $0.99 to $3.99)

Thanks for stopping by my blog!(Incandescent Enchantments) The only book I’ve heard of from your choices is the George R. R. Martin book. I haven’t read it yet because of its intimidating size, and because I’ve read reviews that says it contains alot of war(kindof sounds like it would put me to sleep). About Anna Karenina, I had a person one time tell me to never read that book, so I stayed away from it. Maybe I should read Android Karenina instead? Sigh…another book to add to my TBR pile(I think I have enough to occupy me until I’m 99).
