(American Idol Top 2) Why Phillip Phillips May Lose and Still Win. @PPhillipsAI11

popout: Phillip Phillips Performs Home

So, who’s going to win American Idol Season 11?

I don’t think it matters really. I think that Phillip Phillips can lose this, and end up selling way more of his (Mumford & Sons / Coldplay -sounding) debut single ‘HOME‘ than Jessica Sanchez (what with that mediocre ballad ‘Change Nothing‘ she was saddled with). Mark my words, he’ll be up there in the iTunes charts, and it won’t just be his infatuated fans buying.

HOME‘ may not be an original song by Phillip, but it might as well be. Emotionally, he got it and delivered it – with intact melody! Hate to parrot Steven Tyler, but that was beautiful (minus the marching-band drummers though!) Speaking as someone who hasn’t liked ANY of Phillips’ performances (given the way he seems to have an aversion to sticking to the melody), I’m actually going to voluntarily buy this single on iTunes! You’re welcome Phillip.

HOME‘ may yet be the best ‘coronation’ song that AI has given any of their finalists so far IMO. Most of the time, they just blow (see exhibit 1: No Boundaries)

Hopefully, Jessica Sanchez gets a good A&R manager who can help her put together a good album – she’s got an amazeballs voice and no one can take that away from her.
