‘5 Questions’ with J. Naomi Ay

5 Questions

Today I’m thrilled to welcome indie author J. Naomi Ay to the blog as part of the ‘5 Questions’ with authors series!

If you are an author who would like to participate in the series, fill out the questionnaire here! And if you are a reader who wants to suggest an author for the series, just send me an email!

Virtual Strangers

Describe your book ‘The Boy who Lit up the Sky (The Two Moons of Rehnor)‘ in ten words or less

Unique fantasy scifi paranormal romance series all in one pot.

Where or how did you come up with the idea for your story?

It popped into my head all by itself. I think I might have been abducted by aliens and then I woke up one morning and all these strange people were living in my head telling me what to write about them. Honestly, I don’t know where it came from. I started the whole thing about 25 years ago and have been rewriting and changing and adding to it all this time. It ended up at about 350,000 words so I broke it up into a 5 part series.

Which of your characters is closest to your heart and why?

Probably Katie, the heroine although she doesn’t really do much until book 2. Her perceptions and sense of humor are similar to mine. Of course her weaknesses are all her own.

Do you have a day job? If yes, tell us about it and how did that affect your writing / publishing process?

Yes, I am in sales in the recycling/renewable energy sector. It affects my writing because it requires that I work which interferes with my desire to spend all day monitoring book sales.

Tell us about an upcoming book or project you’re excited about

I’m publishing the last book in my 5 part series The Two Moons of Rehnor as an ebook by June 1st. I’m working paperbacks for the rest of the series as well. Book 1, The Boy who Lit up the Sky and Book 2, My Enemy’s Son are already out in paperback which is really cool. I’ve also started a prequel to the series which may turn into another series on it’s own. We’ll see how that goes.

Bonus Question! Fill in the blank: If you like ___, you’ll probably like my book too!
