5 Questions

Today I’m thrilled to welcome indie author K. A. Jordan to the blog as part of the ‘5 Questions’ with authors series!

If you are an author who would like to participate in the series, fill out the questionnaire here! And if you are a reader who wants to suggest an author for the series, just send me an email!

Secrets

Describe your book ‘Swallow the Moon‘ in ten words or less

Swallow the Moon‘ is about a Wiccan, a soldier and a haunted motorcycle.

Where or how did you come up with the idea for your story?

Guys tend to fall in love with their motorcycles (or cars) I started with the question ‘what if a bike was a jealous mistress?’

After that it was a matter of asking ‘what if?’ and adding layers of urban fantasy style creepiness.

Which of your characters is closest to your heart and why?

This was the first time I fell for my antagonist – the mad artist Van Man Go is the incarnation of jaded self-interest. He’s the world’s greatest airbrush artist, in order to own his work you have to put your soul up as collateral.

Do you have a day job? If yes, tell us about it and how did that affect your writing / publishing process?

Not at present – due to illnesses in the family, I’m staying home to take care of things. This has given me the opportunity to write, though not as much time as I’d like.

Tell us about an upcoming book or project you’re excited about

I went back to Ashtabula Ohio – the city where ‘Swallow the Moon’ is set – to do more research on the history of the town. What I found out was priceless – I can make an entire series in that setting. I’m calling it the ‘Dark Harbor’ series.

Bonus Question! Fill in the blank: If you like ___, you’ll probably like my book too!

I write Romantic Suspense and Paranormal Romance/Urban Fantasy. My work has been compared to Anita Brookner, Carla Neggers, Nora Roberts and Barbara Micheals. Those are some big shoes to fill – they’re authors who tell awesome stories.

I’m pleased to say that my first novel “Let’s Do Lunch” was on Amazon’s UK Best Seller’s (Paid) list for 10 days last December. It was also #3 on the US Free Romantic Suspense chart June 27th & 28th – right under Nora Roberts lastest #1 book. It was the biggest thrill of my short career.
