‘5 Questions’ with Jeff Shelby

5 Questions

Today I’m thrilled to welcome indie author Jeff Shelby to the blog as part of the ‘5 Questions’ with authors series!

If you are an author who would like to participate in the series, fill out the questionnaire here! And if you are a reader who wants to suggest an author for the series, just send me an email!

Secrets

Describe your book ‘Drift Away (Noah Braddock Mysteries)‘ in ten words or less

Drift Away – Mystery. Private detective. Florida. Save woman and son. And himself.

Where or how did you come up with the idea for your story?

I saw the first scene in the story – a young boy asking Noah to help him find his mom – and went from there.

Drift Away is the fourth book in the Noah Braddock series. It picks up shortly after where Liquid Smoke ended. Noah’s life is in pieces. He has to figure out how to put them back together.

Which of your characters is closest to your heart and why?

Noah is by far closest to my heart. He’s the heart of all of the books. Everything goes through him and we see everything through his eyes. He speaks with my voice.

Do you have a day job? If yes, tell us about it and how did that affect your writing / publishing process?

Used to, but not anymore. I’m back to writing full-time. I was a high school teacher and finding the time to write around that career was difficult. I’m happy to be back to writing for a living again.

Tell us about an upcoming book or project you’re excited about

I’m working on the sequel to Thread of Hope and it’s almost complete. Not sure of the title yet, but the main character, Joe Tyler, gets a little closer to finding out what happened to his daughter after her abduction.

I’m also working on the fifth Noah book, which will get him back to San Diego.

Bonus Question! Fill in the blank: If you like ___, you’ll probably like my book too!

If you like – Robert B. Parker, Robert Crais, Harlan Coben, Sue Grafton – you’ll probably like my book, too.
