Secrets

Describe your book ‘The Reign of Mayhem (Fates #3)‘ in ten words or less

The battle between greed and destiny rages on – The Reign of Mayhem.

Where or how did you come up with the idea for your story?

I came up with the idea for the Fate series, of which Reign of Mayhem is book #3, six or seven years ago while working on an entirely different project. I remember thinking, what would a girl do if she found out the ‘stories’ she’d been writing all her life were actually people’s destinies?

Greek mythology has always fascinated me, so I took the idea of the Moirae –the Fates– and put my own spin on it.

Which of your characters is closest to your heart and why?

Ah, a tough question! This book is packed full of characters. I’d have to say Farris Landry, the lead female, is closest to my heart. She’s learned to overcome her personal fears, dealt with family trauma, and grown in ways I didn’t expect over the course of 3 books. Although she’s always been self sufficient, she experiences situations that challenge her morals and beliefs and comes out stronger in the aftermath.

Do you have a day job? If yes, tell us about it and how did that affect your writing / publishing process?

I quit my day job when I had my first child. It allowed me a chance to explore my writing further, and, lucky for me, I’ve been writing full time since 2010.

Tell us about an upcoming book or project you’re excited about

I’m currently in the last stages of writing book #4 for the Fate series, titled A Crisis of Fate. What I love about this story is how Farris has had to cope with her inner demons. The reality of her situation is inescapable, and not always pleasant. Power comes at great personal cost.

Bonus Question! Fill in the blank: If you like ___, you’ll probably like my book too!

If you like Percy Jackson and the Olympians, you’ll probably like my book, too!
