‘5 Questions’ Interview With Monique Martin!

Today I’m thrilled to welcome author Monique Martin to the blog as part of the ‘5 Questions’ with authors interview series! Monique worked in television for several years, and now works full-time as a freelance writer and novelist. Her novels Out of Time (currently FREE!), When the Walls Fell & Fragments are the first three books in the Out of Time series.

Describe your book Fragments (Out of Time Series) in ten words or less

In Fragments, Simon and Elizabeth fight Nazis in WWII England.

Where or how did you come up with the idea for your story?

I’ve always been fascinated with both WWII and I’m a bit of an anglophile. Marrying those two things together to give Simon and Elizabeth an adventure overseas seemed like a no-brainer.

Toss in a little paranormal/occult (which rumors say the Nazis were quite interested in), a dashing OSS officer and it sounded like a fun adventure for my two heroes.

What was your favorite part to write and why?

My favorite part to write other than the romance (which I always enjoy), was trying to give the reader a feel for war-torn England.

We’ve all seen movies and documentaries, but the privations and the courage of the common man for those long war years was so inspirational.

I think my favorite part was trying to infuse the book with that feeling without having to use the Hammer of Thor to get it across.

If you weren’t a full-time author, what other career would you be in and why?

I’m trying to make a go of it as a full-timer. If I had to choose another job it would probably be archaeologist. I love history and the idea of Indian Jonesing is too compelling to pass up, plus, you know… dinosaurs. 🙂

Tell us about an upcoming book or project you’re excited about

I’m currently working on Book 4 of the Out of Time series, tentatively titled (I’m so bad with these) Under Contract.

It takes Simon and Elizabeth to 1930s Hollywood. I’ve always been a film buff and the 30s and 40s were such a fantastic period. It’s all I can do to stop researching and let my characters run loose and get into trouble.
