The Blemished (Blemished Trilogy) by Sarah Dalton

Describe your book The Blemished (Blemished Trilogy) in ten words or less

Ya dystopia with cloning, superpowers and an escape.

Where or how did you come up with the idea for your story?

I think it has come from the culmination of lots of books I’ve read, including my own interest in science and a desire to provide teenage girls with a heroine they can look up to.

I wanted to show them that girls are strong and much more than the sum of their love interests.

Which of your characters (in this book) is closest to your heart and why?

Definitely Mina. She is kind of who I wished I had been as a teenager. She’s questioning and loyal and very strong. She’s a great leader with real power but at the same time she makes mistakes and is trying to figure everything out.

Do you have a day job? If yes, tell us about it and how did that affect your writing / publishing process?

I do have a day job, unfortunately. I would love to be a full time writer and am working very hard to try and make that a possibility. Unfortunately it’s not possible at the moment and means that I have to organise my time very well!

Tell us about an upcoming book or project you’re excited about

The Vanished will be the next instalment of the Blemished trilogy will be out next year.

I think it’s going to create even more questions for the reader and challenge you to think about the themes. But there is plenty of action to keep everyone entertained and thoroughly looking forward to the third book 🙂

Bonus Question! Fill in the blank: If you like ___, you’ll probably like my book too!

If you like the Uglies, the Handmaid’s Tale or the Hunger Games then you will probably like my book.
