Trapped by David Scroggins

Describe your book Trapped in ten words or less

Trapped is chock-full of suspense and horror with tons of twists!

Where or how did you come up with the idea for your story?

I have always had this nagging fear of being suffocated. I was sitting at my computer one night and said to myself “God, the thought of being buried alive creeps me out! I have an idea. Why not share that feeling with other people?”

I do like to share.

What was your favorite part to write and why?

Trapped only has one character throughout most of the story, so I’ll answer the alternate question.

My favorite part to write was the twist that comes after the twist. Or is there a twist? I can say no more!

If you weren’t a full-time author, what other career would you be in and why?

I am currently a full-time writer.

If I had to choose another profession, I would probably be an English professor.

I would be the cool teacher that let his students read awesome books. That sounds like a fun class to me.

Tell us about an upcoming book or project you’re excited about

I’m working on a total of three projects right now!

The first one is a novel called Shattered. It’s about a young woman who has the power to hurt people with a single thought. The second one is a novella about about someone who initially considered herself to be a god. She wants to “help” others reach enlightenment with her, but when they refuse, she goes on a killing spree. It’s simply called Alice. Finally, I’m working on a lighthearted middle grade / young adult fantasy book with my wife. The working title is The Dragon Ate My Homework.

Bonus Question! Fill in the blank: If you like ___, you’ll probably like my book too!

Stephen King, John Saul and R.A. Salvatore.

I know that’s a strange combination, but it’s the honest truth!
