Book Description
When John Connolly burst upon the literary suspense scene in 1999, he was an immediate international sensation. His Every Dead Thing became an instantaneous bestseller in England, and here in America, his writing was greeted with extraordinary accolades. He won the prestigious Shamus Award for Best First Private Eye Novel, and, as the San Francisco Examiner wrote, “John Connolly’s tale is as riveting and chilling as Thomas Harris’s The Silence of the Lambs and James Patterson’s Kiss the Girls.”
Now, Connolly returns with Dark Hollow, a terrifying and ingenious novel of a murderous spree that reaches back decades into the victims’ pasts. Back again is ex-New York Police Detective Charlie “Bird” Parker, who has returned to his hometown of Scarborough, Maine, after the vicious killings of his wife and daughter; it is time to leave the bloodstained streets of Manhattan and rebuild his family’s house — as well as his own life. But for Bird, returning to his roots means digging through a mountain of terror, as memories of his father’s and grandfather’s untimely deaths resurface and drive him to join the manhunt for the killer of yet another mother and child. Though the obvious suspect is Billy Purdue, the violent former husband of the murdered young woman, another player lurks in this disturbing drama, someone entangled in the dark hollow of Bird’s past.
Darkly atmospheric, tense and imbued with the page-turning ferocity that only the finest crime fiction offers, Dark Hollow is a stunning successor to Every Dead Thing, a testament to the burgeoning power of John Connolly to tell stories that thrill, frighten and haunt the soul.

‘5 Questions’ Interview With R.M. Prioleau! @rmprioleau
Today I’m thrilled to welcome author R.M. Prioleau to the blog as part of the ‘5 Questions’ with authors interview series!
If you are an author who would like to participate in the series, fill out the questionnaire here! And if you are a reader who wants to suggest an author for the series, just send me an email!
Describe your book Enflamed (The Pyromancer Trilogy) in ten words or less
Enflamed: An epic fantasy adventure about the dangers of society’s fears.
Where or how did you come up with the idea for your story?
Enflamed is a continuation of the first book in my trilogy, Firebrand.
The trilogy’s storyline came about from a roleplaying game I used to play with with friends.
In Enflamed, more characters are introduced, and Kaijin (the main character) goes on an even bigger adventure and learns new secrets about himself and the world.
Which of your characters (in this book) is closest to your heart and why?
All of them are dear to me! But if I had to choose, I would say it’s Aidan.
He’s a martial artist who is wise and has a peaceful personality. People think he’s dangerous because of the way he physically looks, but he’s actually the most loyal, loving, kind, and generous of all the characters.
Even though Aidan is a skilled martial artist and knows how to kill someone in a single blow if he wanted to, he absolutely hates violence and would rather find a peaceful resolution to a conflict than shed blood.
Do you have a day job? If yes, tell us about it and how did that affect your writing / publishing process?
I do have a day job programming and designing games.
It’s fun, and sometimes challenging to balance both work and writing, but they are both things I love to do. I’ve become an expert multitasker having done this for so long 🙂
Tell us about an upcoming book or project you’re excited about
November is National Novel Writing Month, so I will be writing my next book then.
Other projects include editing/re-writing book 3 of my trilogy.
Bonus Question! Fill in the blank: If you like ___, you’ll probably like my book too!
If you like Margaret Weis & Tracy Hickman, JK Rowling and/or JR Tolkien’s books, you’ll probably like my book, Enflamed, too!
