Tomb of Atlantis: one man-wreckage at sea-epic survival-secrets of Atlantis discovered

It was spawned out of desperation from its prequel: Hidden Courage. I wrote the prequel years ago. It’s based on a flying/climbing adventure I’m planning on making a few years from now to the Peruvian Andes. After publishing it, I pretty much left it in obscurity, never promoting or talking about it.

A year or so later, someone read it and wrote me about it. He said he loved the main character (Jack Roberts) and wanted more. That was that “ah ha” moment. So, I spent a few months planning some new “adventures” for my intrepid character (Indiana Jones type character) and a couple months later, Tomb of Atlantis was born… but it was way too long. I guess I was having so much fun writing, I got carried away with the story and it turned out to be over 180k words – way too big for one novel. I decided to break it up into two books: Tomb of Atlantis and its sequel, Curse of Atlantis.

Of all my books, the character that I love most is, without a doubt, is Jack Roberts. He is me in print (almost – he’s younger and better looking – “me grinning”). Everything he does, everything he says, has my imprint, so it made writing about him a very easy and enjoyable experience.

My day job is wonderful. I’m an engineer designing Blow Off Preventers for the oil industry (think Deep Water Horizon… the Blow Off Preventer that failed in the Gulf of Mexico last year, dumping millions of gallons of oil into the gulf. That’s what we design and build, only better than BP – lol).

My job is very demanding (6 days a week) so my writing has to be ‘worked’ into my schedule: usually an hour a day – and five hours on Sunday. At times, I wish I could work less and write more, but I’ve been around long enough to appreciate what I have and recognize that the grass ain’t so green on the other side.

I’m currently working on the sequel to Tear in Time, my biggest seller (btw – that’s “tear”, as in torn). It’s a time travel novel with its plot set in the American Civil War. Basically, a surgeon enters an elevator and descends into a battle, circa 1862.

I’ve had overwhelming requests for the story’s continuation and finally developed a plot that would be equaled to the first. The funny thing is, I started writing the sequel, when all of a sudden, a flood of emails came in asking for a plot that was quite a bit different than what I was actually writing. I realized I wasn’t giving the readers what they were asking for. So, I abandoned that sequel and began work on a new version. What’s really great about this is, this new sequel is turning about better than the primary story and when I’m done, I’ll have another follow-on story that I think will probably be better than the first two.

Now, if I could just find the time to write them quickly…
