‘5 Questions’ Interview With R.M. Prioleau! @rmprioleau

April 22, 2013 Leave a comment

5 Questions

Today I’m thrilled to welcome author R.M. Prioleau to the blog as part of the ‘5 Questions’ with authors interview series!

If you are an author who would like to participate in the series, fill out the questionnaire here! And if you are a reader who wants to suggest an author for the series, just send me an email!

Tears of the Goddess (The Goddess Series #1) by R.M. Prioleau

Describe your book Tears of the Goddess (The Goddess Series #1) in ten words or less

A romantic tale about two lovers whose love transcends all.

Where or how did you come up with the idea for your story?

There were two reasons why and how this story came about.

Firstly, I wanted to write a prequel to all of my forthcoming stories, as well as have more world-building opportunities. All of the stories I’ve written so far and most that will be forthcoming all take place in the same world/universe.

Secondly, I wanted to challenge myself and write something I don’t normally write. The romance genre is something new to me, and I wanted to give it a try. I thought this story would be perfect. I also wanted to challenge myself to write a complete, self-contained story in 10,000 words or less and still execute it strongly as if it were a full-blown novel. I managed to get almost exactly 10,000 words (just fell short by a few words). It was a fun and exciting challenge for me to do something new for a change.

Which of your characters (in this book) is closest to your heart and why?

It’s hard to choose when all of my characters are very dear to me.

If I had to choose, I would say Sémdi. He was fun to write because he’s such a mischievous bugger, but he has a good heart. He becomes the unlikely character that ends up helping the heroine in her quest to save the one she loves.

Do you have a day job? If yes, tell us about it and how did that affect your writing / publishing process?

My day job consists of programming. I enjoy it, as it relaxes me (yes, I’m such a weird geek).

It hasn’t affected my writing time much. I’m able to organize my time effectively to be able to squeeze some writing in.

Tell us about an upcoming book or project you’re excited about

I have plenty of projects in the works, but my biggest, most recent one is working on book 3 of my first-ever trilogy. I am hoping to have it released by mid to late spring, 2013.

Bonus Question! Fill in the blank: If you like ___, you’ll probably like my book too!

If you like the Dragonlance series, Xanth novels, whimsical romance tales, and/or the paranormal romance genre, you’ll probably like my book, too!

Thanks again for stopping by, R.M. Prioleau! You can learn more about the author via the author’s website/blog: www.rmprioleau.com, Facebook: rmprioleau, and Twitter: @rmprioleau.

Tears of the Goddess (The Goddess Series #1) is available on Amazon (Kindle).

(American Idol Top 5) Clay Aiken Performs “Bridge Over Troubled Water” (Video)

April 19, 2013 Leave a comment

popout: Bridge Over Troubled Water

I haven’t been watching American Idol regularly lately, but from what I’ve caught so far – Candice should win, right? I loved her ‘Straight Up’ interpretation!

Anyway, tuned in tonight to reassure myself that Candice would survive for another week, and (1) surprised to see Paula Abdul pop up, and (2) even MORE surprised to see an AI alum I never expected to see back on American Idol! Clay Aiken himself (given the acrimonious history, hell must have frozen over, right?) reprising his old fan-favorite cover of “Bridge Over Troubled Water”. Wasn’t as bombastic as I recalled, but this understated interpretation is also nice.

Welcome back, Clay 🙂

(Video) Official Teaser Trailer for The Hunger Games: Catching Fire!

popout: Teaser Trailer for The Hunger Games: Catching Fire

The official teaser trailer for the film adaptation of Suzanne Collins’s Catching Fire (The Second Book of the Hunger Games) is out and it’s looking great! So excited!

Catching Fire (The Second Book of the Hunger Games) by Suzanne Collins

Here’s a description of Catching Fire (The Second Book of the Hunger Games) (published by Scholastic Press):

Against all odds, Katniss Everdeen has won the annual Hunger Games with fellow district tribute Peeta Mellark. But it was a victory won by defiance of the Capitol and their harsh rules. Katniss and Peeta should be happy. After all, they have just won for themselves and their families a life of safety and plenty. But there are rumors of rebellion among the subjects, and Katniss and Peeta, to their horror, are the faces of that rebellion. The Capitol is angry. The Capitol wants revenge.
