Inside Evil by Geoffrey Wakeling

Describe your book Inside Evil in ten words or less

Murder is Inside Evil’s plot, with cats, curses and mirror portals.

Where or how did you come up with the idea for your story?

Inside Evil has been a work in progress for many years, and I simply can’t remember how it started out. There was never that ‘aha’ moment, not like I’ve had for the sequels, but the story practically formulated itself as I was writing it.

Which of your characters (in this book) is closest to your heart and why?

Susan Lingly definitely managed to make an impact with me. Her daughter’s just been murdered by a strange force, but rather than allowing it take over her life, she sets off to find answers. She drinks too much, has some very strange friends, has an acquaintance trying to kill her, but yet she never gives up.

Do you have a day job? If yes, tell us about it and how did that affect your writing / publishing process?

I get bored VERY quickly, so I’ve never been very good at office jobs or anything similar. I have a small and local gardening company and do a lot of garden maintenance in the mornings. Then I head home for lunch, do some copywriting for online clients, before getting down to my own work. It’s a pretty great existence!

Tell us about an upcoming book or project you’re excited about

I’m really excited about my new zombie novel. I never wanted to write anything to do with zombies, and am working on the third Inside Evil book, but NaNoWriMo had me stuck – until this idea popped into my head.

Out of the blue I’m now writing a short zombie novella about what happens after the apocalypse, when scientists discover a ‘cure’ for zombies. It doesn’t turn people back to their former selves, but it does pacify them, and the remaining human population find a new society to live in.

It’s set in London, I’ve allowed my humour to get free reign and I’m loving the writing process so far.

Bonus Question! Fill in the blank: If you like ___, you’ll probably like my book too!

If you like Harry Potter, then you’ll probably like my book too!
