Meme Directory for the Book Bloggers!

June 3, 2011 38 comments

One thing I’ve noticed that a lot of book-bloggers do so they can connect with other book-bloggers is by participating in link-ups via Blog hops or weekly memes. I’ve participated in one or two or three myself (although I’m not a regular) and it’s cool to visit other blogs, read what their thoughts are, leave a comment and have them return the favor. Anyway, I just wanted a way to collate all these memes/hops that I’m aware of here for easy reference in case I have the itch to participate in one (at any day of the week). And I thought I’d share with the rest of you 🙂 Happy blog hopping! (And if you find this meme directory helpful, I’d appreciate if you’d share the link to this post on your own blogs!)

p.s. I’ve been updating my “Spotlight on the WordPress Book Bloggers!” post and am happy to report that I’ve got more than 400 WordPress book blogs listed in the directory as of today 🙂

Bargain Book Bonanza (Monday-Thurs book haul linky party) (by Baja Greenawalt’s Cozy Book Nook)

BBB is a book haul linky party to showcase all the great books (new, used, vintage, electronic, audio) that we bargain book lovers score on sale… dirt cheap… or free.

Each Monday through Thursday, everyone is invited to carouse, make merry and revel with bargain book abandon!

BBB book(s) do not have to be current purchases. If a past book bargain did not get the bravo it deserved from your real life friends/family, claim your bragging rights now!

Bookish Images Monday (by Cindy’s Book Club)

I’d love for you to participate in Bookish Images Monday.

Remember, you do NOT have to post a ton of images–one will be fine if that’s all you want to do! (I just tend to go a little crazy.)

They can just be interesting or pretty book covers if you want. Or just pictures of books, bookcases, libraries or bookstores. Or they can be humorous, or vintage, or related to movies based on books. They just need to be book-related in some way.

Cover Crazy (by The Book Worms)

I will post mine weekly and usually on Mondays, but you can post it on any day and whenever it is possible for you.

The point of this meme is to admire the art and beauty of a book’s design, so I’m going to post minimal words. It is up to you to write how you feel and what you like about it the way you’d like to.

Fast Forward (by Mysterious Books)

Hello all my fellow bloggers and readers, another week has begun and it’s time to look forward and see what this week will bring.
I hope you will play along in this meme.

It’s Monday! What Are You Reading? (by Book Journey)

It’s Monday! What Are You Reading is where we share what we read this past week, what we hope to read this week…. and anything in between! D This is a great way to plan out your reading week and see what others are currently reading as well… you never know where that next “must read” book will come from!

MAILBOX MONDAY (by Mailbox Monday)

Here you’ll find the Mailbox Monday story, hosting details, tour schedule and my personal mailbox posts. Mailbox Monday is a gathering place for readers to share the books that came into their house last week and explore great book blogs. Warning: Mailbox Monday can lead to envy, toppling TBR piles and humongous wish lists.

Marvelous Middle Grade Monday (by Shannon Messenger)

If you want to join in the MMGM fun, all you have to do is blog about a middle grade book you love (contests, author interviews and whatnot also count–but are most definitely not required) and email me the title of the book you’re featuring and a link to your blog. It’s easier if you email me before Monday, that way your link will be included in the post from the moment it goes live. But if you decide to spontaneously join the fun, I do update the post at several points throughout the Monday. Just email me a link and I’ll add you when I do!

Meet Me On Monday!! (by Never Growing Old)

Every Sunday Never Growing Old will post five get to know you questions that you can copy and paste into your own Monday post and we can all learn a little more about each and every one of us!!

Music Mondays (by Truth Be Told)

Write a post that includes a music video or song title!

Musing Mondays (by Should Be Reading)

This week’s Musing Mondays post asks… [A question for you to answer]

“I wanted to write each Monday and “muse” about books.”

Ten Good Things on a Monday (by Brush Up on Your Reading)

10 Good Things on a Monday is a weekly feature I am doing dedicated to every person’s compulsive list-writing. Every Monday we are going to make a list of 10 things that will cheer us up and help tide us over the whole week.

Spotlight on the WordPress Book Bloggers!

WP Book Bloggers List

Book Blogging is a big deal these days. There’s an annual “Book Blogger Convention” with the next one set for May in New York City. The Book Blog Network has almost 9,000 members (and growing!). A Delicious Book Blog Directory has 900 bookmarks and counting! Readers communicate with each other and their favorite authors via Shelfari, Goodreads, etc.

So, who are the Book Bloggers? To quote from Book Blog Network: (they) “read books, blog books, write books, and publicize books.”

What I’ve noticed is that majority of the book blogs I know about (and subscribe to) are on blogger/blogspot. What about WordPress? It’s a free service too, and I picked it for my blog since I liked the features it offered (*even though ads, flash, extra coding, boasting of # of followers, etc aren’t allowed). So, I decided to go hunting for WordPress.Com book blogs, and I thought I’d share the fruits of my labor with you (since at it turns out, there are HEAPS out there). Check out these very interesting group of local blogs on our backyard, and see what they’re reviewing or chatting about. You might want to subscribe to one or two or more! (Or at the very least, be able to add some more books to your to-read pile!) Also, please consider posting the WP Book Blog button on your blog’s sidebar to help publicize the list.

*but notice how clean-looking and quickly WP.Com blogs load since we don’t have all those blinkies, flash background noise & ads assaulting you right & left?

P.S. If you have a book blog on WordPress and I missed you (which is very likely), e-mail me or leave a comment here so you can be added to the directory!
