Borders.Com Non-Fiction eBook Freebies

October 8, 2010 1 comment

Sigh, Borders.Com and their hard to navigate site. Anyway, they’ve put up two more freebies, both are nonfiction. If more nonfiction stuff come up, I’ll be sure to add here.

My Baby Rides the Short Bus: The Unabashedly Human Experience of Raising Kids with Disabilities‘ by Yantra Bertelli , Jennifer Silverman, Sarah Talbot (Editors) is FREE (the Kindle version costs $9.99)

Book Description:

The stories in this collection provide parents of special needs kids with a dose of both laughter and reality. Featuring works by so-called alternative parents who have attempted to move away from mainstream thought, this anthology carefully considers the implications of raising children with disabilities.

From professional writers to novice storytellers, including original essays by Robert Rummel-Hudson, Ayun Halliday, and Kerry Cohen, this assortment of authentic, shared experiences from parents in the know is a partial antidote to the stories that misrepresent, ridicule, and objectify disabled children and their parents.

Updated! FREE Romance eBooks from Borders

October 6, 2010 Leave a comment

Borders.Com is really hard to navigate around in, and I really hate their iPod application. Nevertheless, they are giving away a whole bunch of eBooks, many of which have been made free by Amazon/B&N/Kobo/Sony, but there are a couple that seem to be exclusive to Borders. So, I guess I’ll try to muddle through their list here. (p.s. For those with Kindles, please revisit this post of freebies, since I have been adding and adding more eBooks there which have been trickling in piece-meal… and for those looking for good Kindle bargains, check out a couple here!)

Basically, there are three major links on Borders that you should visit – “A Gift for You: Free Romance for Borders’ customers” (links should be good until the 12th), “A Gift for You: Free Books for One Week (Courtesy of Dorchester Publishing) (promo expired)” and “eBooks: Free for a Limited Time“. The books overlap over those three links, goodluck with that 😉

I’ll try to put some order to the mess, but I can’t promise to have all the books since the site really is a mess… and they don’t even bother to have thumbnail covers for the free books?! For starters, I think I’ll just post the books that I don’t recall ever being free elsewhere. Just check all the links if you want to add ALL the free books to your Borders library. (Updated! Added two new books)

Double Enchantment (Love Spell Paranormal Romance)‘ by Kathryne Kennedy is FREE (the Kindle version costs $4.79)

Book Description:

When Lady Jasmina accidentally creates a double of herself who knows nothing about Society propriety, the mix-up brings her into a very compromising position with a sexy were-stallion.

  1. The Alchemyst: The Secrets of the Immortal Nicholas Flamel By Michael Scott

The truth: Nicholas Flamel was born in Paris on September 28, 1330. Nearly 700 years later, he is acknowledged as the greatest Alchemyst of his day. It is said that he discovered the secret of eternal life. The records show that he died in 1418. But his tomb is empty.

The legend: Nicholas Flamel lives. But only because he has been making the elixir of life for centuries. The secret of eternal life is hidden within the book he protects — the Book of Abraham the Mage. It’s the most powerful book that has ever existed. In the wrong hands, it will destroy the world. That’s exactly what Dr. John Dee plans to do when he steals it. Humankind won’t know what’s happening until it’s too late. And if the prophecy is right, Sophie and Josh Newman are the only ones with the power to save the world as we know it.

Sometimes legends are true. And Sophie and Josh Newman are about to find themselves in the middle of the greatest legend of all time.
