Tune In Tuesday – This Tuesday’s Tune is Queen’s ‘Love of My Life’

December 27, 2011 1 comment

Well, it’s time for “Tune In Tuesday” via the GReads Blog!

Joining in on the last special concert edition of Tune in Tuesday! I wasn’t even a glimmer in my parents eyes (they hadn’t met yet), but I so wish I could have attended any one of Queen’s concerts. Anyway, this is one my fave songs from their album ‘A Night At the Opera‘ – Love of My Life! In later concerts, Freddie would usually have the crowd singing the song with him, but in this 1977 Houston concert, he pretty much sings the whole thing 🙂

Queen feat. Adam Lambert – Live at MTV EMA 2011 Belfast

ETA: For video with best audio, check out the one posted on MTV! And download an iPod compatible video HERE!

The legendary band Queen (Brian May and Roger Taylor were presented with the Global Icon Award earlier) took the stage at the 2011 MTV Europe Music Awards and featured a surprise lead singer for their set – Adam Lambert! Guess Brian May really liked Adam singing ‘We Are the Champions’ with them during the finale of American Idol Season 8 🙂

The set list was ‘The Show Must Go On’, ‘We Will Rock You’ and ‘We Are The Champions’. I would have preferred ‘Somebody to Love’ instead, but hey, I can always dream that song will be performed again someday…

I’m a huge fan of Queen and of Adam, so this was a great surprise for me, an early Christmas gift! Of course no one can ever replace Freddie Mercury, but having suffered through other less vocally talented singers trying to sing Queen songs, I really enjoyed that Adam definitely has the vocal chops to carry it off!

The video I embedded here has the better audio, but if you want a video with a better pic quality, check out this other YouTube video. If you want your own downloaded copy though, be sure to visit this link to grab the HD video download!

A Crazy Little Quiz on Queen

September 16, 2009 2 comments

Hailing from England but having an influence the world over, Queen rocked us for close to 30 years. Think you know Freddie Mercury and crew? Let’s find out.

Do you have a couple of minutes to waste? If the answer is YES, head on to the “Crazy Little Quiz on Queen” on this site and see how much you really know Queen.

Should I admit that I scored 91%??? I’m a bit ashamed that I scored so well actually, what does that say about my life? lol

Adam Lambert and Kris Allen with Queen (We are the Champions)

May 21, 2009 1 comment

Vodpod videos no longer available.

Now, this is how you perform a duet, Danny Gokey! If you’re still watching videos to improve your performance skills, I suggest you spend a couple of minutes with this one. See how much they respect and love and enjoy performing this together?

I am an uber Queen fan so I practically died when I heard the opening strains of “We Are the Champions” and the curtain revealed Brian May and Roger Taylor. Adam sounded so much like Freddie … Good times!

ETA 2: Download the mp3 from this link

ETA : I really liked this article from VH1 that recaps the performance.
