The Perks of Being a Wallflower

Here’s a description of the book (but you can check out the full plot on Wiki):

Standing on the fringes of life offers a unique perspective. But there comes a time to see what it looks like from the dance floor.

This haunting novel about the dilemma of passivity vs. passion marks the stunning debut of a provocative voice in contemporary fiction: The Perks of Being a Wallflower.

This is the story of what it’s like to grow up in high school. More intimate than a diary, Charlie’s letters are singular and unique, hilarious and devastating. We may not know where he lives. We may not know to whom he is writing. All we know is the world he shares. Caught between trying to live his life and trying to run from it puts him on a strange course through uncharted territory. The world of first dates and mixed tapes, family dramas and new friends. The world of sex, drugs, and The Rocky Horror Picture Show, when all one requires is that perfect song on that perfect drive to feel infinite.

Through Charlie, Stephen Chbosky has created a deeply affecting coming-of-age story, a powerful novel that will spirit you back to those wild and poignant roller coaster days known as growing up.

The Perks of Being a Wallflower‘ starring Emma Watson (Sam), Logan Lerman (Charlie), Ezra Miller (Patrick) plus a great supporting cast in Paul Rudd and Kate Walsh arrives in theaters in September!

Emma Watson is All Grown Up on Vanity Fair

May 9, 2010 1 comment

One of the best things about the Harry Potter franchise is how the three child actors grew up to be such normal acting, level-headed young adults. Maybe it’s because they’re English, maybe it’s because they had amazing parents and families, maybe it was because the production people figured out how to deal with child actors … but whatever they did, it worked.

In this Vanity Fair article “One Bewitching Coed” which focuses on one Emma Watson, we get an idea of Emma’s life. I liked the article, it encompasses her story from the beginning, when she was just one among millions of little girls who dreamed of being Hermione, until her current life as a freshman in Brown University (with some bonus insights on co-stars Rupert Grint and Daniel Radcliff). And the article isn’t pushy or gossipy at all either, just very informative without going into too much personal detail.

And I really liked the photos they took of her too – there’s some sexiness there, but it’s still very sweet and classy. Check out Vanity Fair magazine at your friendly neighborhood bookstore!

Fan forum Snitchseeker (via ontd) has some scans of the entire spread if you can’t get to a copy of Vanity Fair magazine yourself.

Check after the jump for a surprise!
