Adam Lambert in the UK - Part III (on Jonathan Ross’ Show)
Final stop on Adam’s European promo tour was a detour back to the UK again (even if it’s just a day) before Adam headed home to LA!
Adam had to detour back to England for more media interviews, chief of which was an appearance on Friday Night with Jonathan Ross (a VERY popular talk-show in the UK!). Adam had to pre-tape on Wednesday (“@wossy Jonathan Ross show tonight! You were so much fun!!! Thank you!!!“). Everyone’s a little atwitter since Adam’s fellow guest is Jake Gyllenhaal himself. Adam’s UK publicist tweeted a (blurry) photo of the two of them. The show was just aired in the UK earlier (watch the vids below + if you’re interested in the stuff that wasn’t aired, a fan on IDF posted a bit on what was left out).
Adam also made it to the Attitude Mag party later that night (Check out the pap pics below) and ended the night out with friends at Tranny Shack. Be sure to bookmark this post as I’ll be updating as media come in!

Adam Lambert in the UK! Part II!
So, Adam eventually made it over to the UK on April 22 after being stranded by the Icelandic volcanic ash! And has apparently been making up for lost time…
Since I’ve been out of touch on vacation, most of what I’m posting here is pretty late (so Adam fans must’ve already got to them), so this post is really more for myself now. I’m just collecting everything here, so I can peruse all the pretty vids and interviews at my leisure later on when I have the time to watch everything!
But be sure to bookmark this post, as Adam will be at the UK for some days yet (here’s a schedule) and I’ll be updating as more media comes up! Plus, NirvanaDC (Sony UK Publicist) is a good twitter resource for Adam news!
Adam performed six songs (Setlist: Fever, Down the Rabbit Hole, Strut, Whataya Want From Me, If I Had You, and For Your Entertainment with dance routines for 3 songs) at an event at G.A.Y. Hopefully we get vids (and yes we do)!
And after a much needed day-off on Sunday, Adam was up early for his GMTV appearance / interview (with a live performance of FYE) on April 26. Really liked the dancing in this one - very tight! And spot-on vocals as usual. In the afternoon, he recorded a 5-piece set for MTV UK (air date TBA), capped by a performance at HMV-Heaven that evening! Set-list was For Your Entertainment, Music Again, Whataya Want From Me, Strut, Sleepwalker, Fever, If I Had You! (Videos are up for download on this link!). After that gig, Adam still had time (and energy) to go out clubbing with friends to finish his very busy day!

Are you going to be touring in the UK any time soon?
I don’t know, I hope so. I’m in the midst of planning a tour here in the States, and it’s something that I’m really excited about because as much as it is a musical experience, I also want it to be visual and interactive and theatrical. Hopefully if it goes well and we have a good time, and hopefully if the album does well in Europe, then we can take the tour over there. Let’s hope for the best!
Chartwatch Week Ending May 8th 2010
Finally for this week there is something of a watershed at Number 39 as Adam Lambert reaches the Top 40 with his single ‘For Your Entertainment’ and in the process becomes only the third American Idol loser to reach the UK charts. The flamboyant and fiercely talented Lambert was the runaway star of the 2009 series of the show, his eventual defeat to Kris Allen going down as something of a surprise. Not for the first time however, it turns out to be the loser of the series who has the last laugh and after going Top 3 back home with his debut album last year, he now makes a bid for UK glory with this title track.

Speaking of Lady Gaga, she’s actually contributed to your album - which is out here in a couple of weeks [now on Monday] – along with this whole host of absolutely incredible people…I imagine they were all banging down your door to get involved with your album?
It was an amazing collection of producers and writers, I am so fortunate to have been able to work with such a roster at this point in my career. It’s made the album what it is, and I’m really proud of it – I was so lucky to work with these people.

You’ve got your debut album coming out here in a couple of weeks, with some frankly amazing pop songwriters on it, including Lady GaGa, Pink, Dr Luke.. but there are some really surprising writers on there too, such as Matt Bellamy from Muse. That must be incredible for you, such a high calibre of collaborators for a new artist?
It really blew my mind the first time I looked at the roster, I’m just flattered and humbled. I can’t believe these people have the faith in me to sing their music, and that gave me a great deal of validation for the project.
Were you aware of the Darkness’ Justin Hawkins, another writer on the album?
Yeah! I think the thing about the Darkness and Justin is that they were total kitsch, total camp. And camp is something that can be very misinterpreted or missed in general, sometimes people just don’t get that what you’re doing is intentional. And I’ve learnt that the hard way…

Surrounded by scantily-clad backing dancers and a band more intent on rocking out than pandering to wussy pop proved Adam is a rare reality TV find.
On Whaddya Want From Me and the sublime Sleepwalker he turned the atmosphere into a moody puddle of sweat.
And it didn’t take long for the Alexander McQueen-designed dancing canes and GaGa-penned Fever to send the packed venue into a high-octane frenzy.

“On an ideal day off, I would sleep in as long as I possibly could and then I would probably try to meet up with some friends for brunch and maybe do a little shopping, take in a show, whether it would be live music or a film.
“Then have a couple of drinks and then have a special friend and then go to bed…doesn’t that sound great? All the good things.”

Adam: Just to keep doing it and to keep entertaining. One of the reasons I waited so long to really, really go for my dream was that I was trying to find out who I was and I was learning about life and about myself so by the time I turned 27 I had this realisation that I wanted to take it to the next level. I knew I wanted to have more money (laughs) and to entertain on a larger scale. The practical and artistic aspirations kicked into overdrive.

“For Your Entertainment” is one of my favorite albums at the moment, mostly because of it’s diversity in genres. Were you worried that because the album is so diverse, that maybe people wouldn’t get it?
Thanks! No I wasn’t worried. There really isn’t room for worry in the whole process. For me, I wanted it to be diverse because that’s who I am as an artist and that’s who I am as a listener - I don’t like listening to one style of music, I like to listen to everything. I don’t see what’s wrong with making an album that’s colouful and that goes in a bunch of different directions. I don’t see why that’s a bad thing. I think it’s great - it gives the listener more of a journey and allows me as a performer to go on that journey and take my show in different directions - it doesn’t get stagnant and doesn’t sound the same the whole time…

Adam Lambert in the UK!
Adam Lambert’s fourth stop in his international promo tour for FYE is the UK! This is a huge market for Adam - so I do hope he breaks through. Adam will be back to being pretty much anonymous in the UK, and he’s only scheduled to do a bunch of regional radio gigs for his first trip to the UK (no TV yet). This is back to basics radio promo for Adam. And if his filter continues to be missing, I’m foreseeing a bunch of ‘gates’ again 🙂
So, you know the drill - just bookmark this post, and it’ll be updated as media comes in! Also, LambertWatchUK (official sony UK twitter for Adam) is a good account to follow for up-to-date UK news!
Here’s the schedule that we know of - Adam arrived at London on the afternoon of March 18 (where a small group of fans met him - here’s a recap), but nothing official was scheduled for the weekend leading up to 3/21. Presumably, he was having some private meetings with the bigwigs at Sony UK and maybe some press interviews at this time. Or maybe he had some *private downtime for a change (* the paps caught him hanging out with the Ronsons (dj sam & her producer bro mark) & looks like he met Boy George via a common friend or two at BG’s single launch party). But he did head off to Scotland from London in time to start his whirlwind radio visits come Monday!
Adam officially went back to work on Monday (Mar 22), starting off his radio tour with the Forth FM in Edinburgh in the morning (where he did the interview wearing a kilt!). Then it was off to Glasgow STV then Galaxy Scotland and Clyde 1. Adam also recorded a segment for ‘The Hour‘ (for Scottish TV).
Tuesday, Adam hit up the UK stations Key 103 Manchester (webcam!), Radio City Liverpool, Rock FM Preston and Signal1 Stoke.
Wednesday, Adam hit up Real Radio Wakefield, Galaxy Leeds, Pulse FM Bradford, and Hallam FM Sheffield (Sovisual filmed an interview for Halla FM).
Adam was at Birmingham on Thursday, BRMB, Galaxy, and Kerrang/Q at Lionel Street. In the afternoon, he made stops at The Eagle, Guildford then Gaydar, Twickenham.
Friday was Adam’s press day in London. In the AM, he was at the Heat offices (plus did a live webchat on Heatworld), and at The Mirror. Adam also met up with The Sun/NOTW and then The Star in the PM. And in a surprising promo event (for me), Adam was at the All Star Lanes (as in bowling), Bloomsbury Place also in the afternoon, followed by a visit to Capital radio pre recording bits for the album release promo. His day was capped by a dinner with a friend and a night out at Mahiki. I’m assuming that Adam will have Saturday off, then jets off on Sunday for Munich, Germany!

This isn’t for this March visit, but Adam is scheduled to have a performance at G-A-Y (Sat 24th April) to benefit Amnesty International. Also, for the brits, Adam’s AOL sessions are now available on AOL.uk!

Yesterday, he jetted into Scotland on a whistle-stop tour to promote his new album and was delighted to strap on a 21st-century kilt for the Razz.
He said of his spiky sporran: “It’s like having a cactus - a little pet cactus.
“I’m not a true Scotsman today because I’ve teamed up the kilt with some plaid leggings - but I’d like to wear this back home in the US too.”

Starting off in musical theatre when he was just ten years old, Adam counts many of his idols and inspiration come from Britain. “All of my big influences are British, my favourite signers Freddie Mercury, David Bowie and Robert Plant; these are the people that I’ve always been drawn to,” Adam continued. “I have a feeling that a lot of the sensibilities both visual and sonically are ways that will appeal here, I think that people will understand it.”
In keeping with Scots tradition Adam dressed in a black kilt and tartan leggings, well perhaps not quite the true Scotsman. He did however dress accordingly for the occasion and loves the look: “I love it, it’s called 21st Century kilt and it has a little modern twist.”
Adam is a big fan of Scotland and would love to return in the not so distant future. “It’s beautiful here, we were driving through Edinburgh this morning and I am so fascinating by how historical the buildings are. There are buildings standing up in those streets which are probably older than my country, ” Adam added. “Everything is so beautiful, the weather is authentic.”
