Yes! Give the Gift of Kindle Books this Season!

November 19, 2010 Leave a comment

Yes, we have been asking for this feature for so long, and we finally get it, right in time for the holidays! (Sending someone a gift card & book suggestion always seemed awkward to me). The photo above is pretty self-explanatory, but let’s check out Amazon’s press release, shall we?

Beginning today, just in time for the holiday season, customers can give Kindle Books as gifts to anyone with an e-mail address-no Kindle required. Kindle Books can be read on Kindle devices and free Kindle reading apps for iPad, iPod touch, iPhone, Mac, PC, BlackBerry and Android-based devices. For more information or to give a Kindle Book as a gift, go to www.amazon.com/givekindlebooks.

To give a Kindle Book as a gift, customers simply choose a book in the Kindle Store, select “Give as a Gift” and send their gift to anyone with an email address. Notifications of Kindle Books gifts are delivered instantly via e-mail and the recipient redeems the gift in the Kindle Store to read on any Kindle or free Kindle app.

Hmmm… if I post my wishlist here, will any of you (my blog readers) grant them, I wonder? lol

(Update) Okay, this is what happens when you click on the ‘gift‘ button. There is a new Gift shopping cart where you can enter the giftee’s name/email address (or if you use the recipient’s Wish list, you don’t even need to know the e-mail). The giftee will receive an email with the Subject “Amazon.com: A Gift from XXX“, and the gift-wrapped book in the body (like the picture here) & a link “Get your Kindle Book Gift Now” which will go to the eBook product page. The giftee then gets the book by clicking on “Accept Kindle Gift“.

Note that the giftee can exchange the ebook gift for a gift card by contacting customer service and referencing the gift order number (if they don’t like the gift).

Adam Lambert Covers Jimi Hendrix’s “Purple Haze”!

November 19, 2010 Leave a comment

Wow, Adam Lambert’s encores for his GlamNation concert at Trabendo (Paris, France) were Jimi Hendrix’s “Purple Haze” aside from the always excellent “Whole Lotta Love” (Led Zeppelin cover)!

Check the video of the Purple Haze/WLL performance out courtesy of superfan suz526! I’ll be posting all the videos from Paris later, but couldn’t resist having this one up 🙂 (I’m guessing that the new encore was for his guitarist Monte Pittman whose B-day is tomorrow!)

Spotlight on the WordPress Book Bloggers!

WP Book Bloggers List

Book Blogging is a big deal these days. There’s an annual “Book Blogger Convention” with the next one set for May in New York City. The Book Blog Network has almost 9,000 members (and growing!). A Delicious Book Blog Directory has 900 bookmarks and counting! Readers communicate with each other and their favorite authors via Shelfari, Goodreads, etc.

So, who are the Book Bloggers? To quote from Book Blog Network: (they) “read books, blog books, write books, and publicize books.”

What I’ve noticed is that majority of the book blogs I know about (and subscribe to) are on blogger/blogspot. What about WordPress? It’s a free service too, and I picked it for my blog since I liked the features it offered (*even though ads, flash, extra coding, boasting of # of followers, etc aren’t allowed). So, I decided to go hunting for WordPress.Com book blogs, and I thought I’d share the fruits of my labor with you (since at it turns out, there are HEAPS out there). Check out these very interesting group of local blogs on our backyard, and see what they’re reviewing or chatting about. You might want to subscribe to one or two or more! (Or at the very least, be able to add some more books to your to-read pile!) Also, please consider posting the WP Book Blog button on your blog’s sidebar to help publicize the list.

*but notice how clean-looking and quickly WP.Com blogs load since we don’t have all those blinkies, flash background noise & ads assaulting you right & left?

P.S. If you have a book blog on WordPress and I missed you (which is very likely), e-mail me or leave a comment here so you can be added to the directory!

Check out the WordPress Book Blogs after the jump!
